Dear Gallery Director,

I am a Banff based artist with over 20 years of oil painting experience seeking representation in a new market. My art is currently represented in the Bow Valley by Fallen Leaf Art Gallery in Canmore, Alberta.

After reviewing my portfolio, my art education and experience, if you feel that my work would be a good fit for you art gallery, I would love to meet with you to explore the possibility of building a new relationship, based on respect and mutual understanding of our goals and expectations.

5 years ago I came to the realization that a full-time career in fine art was not only possible for me but necessary, as I truly believe it’s through my art that I can provide the most value and joy to others while leading a fulfilling life. I feel I am well on my way to achieving this dream!

I am proud of the oil paintings I have on offer and I am also excited for the future as my body of work keeps growing. I hope to find a gallery to help bring my art to bigger audiences while I continue the lifelong process of developing and refining my craft.

Thank you for taking the time to review my portfolio and I look forward to meeting you.

My Best Regards,

Marcos Molina

Artist Statement

Banff artist Marcos Molina’s detailed oil landscape paintings showcase the beauty of Canada’s glaciers and the dramatic landscapes they have shaped through the ages, from the desolate high mountain peaks to the beaming life in the lakes and rivers of the valleys below. Influenced by a mix of traditional Flemish techniques and his career in animation, his vibrant paintings show great dedication to light, depth, contrast and line work to bring scenes to life.

As an avid mountain adventurer himself, Marcos has a deep connection to glaciers and has seen first-hand the rapid changes of these natural treasures in recent years. Through his body of work, Marcos hopes to inspire the community at large to protect glaciers and the rich mountain environments they sustain.

Art career

Marcos Molina holds a Bachelor of Animation from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, training in traditional hand-drawn animation, life drawing, film composition, and digital painting - techniques and skills that still influence his vibrant and detailed oil paintings.

Marcos showed promising drawing skills from a young age. At 17 he started painting with oils. This initial painting period was self-taught, and in 2004, while on an extended trip to New Zealand, he secured his first gallery representation, at the Queenstown Gallery of Fine Art.

After working in Montreal’s animation industry, and a career in graphic and web design spanning the last ten years, Marcos realized his strongest calling as an artist lies in traditional oil painting, so he has dedicated his focus to Canadian mountain paintings since 2013. Looking to further enhance his skills, Marcos sought out renowned Canadian landscape painter Roger D. Arndt, who taught him the Flemish technique in oil painting, which Marcos adopted in his works from 2018 onwards.

Marcos Molina is currently represented by Fallen Leaf Art Gallery in Canmore, Alberta and is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA).
